This book was one of the first I came across in my travels and it caused quite a bit of confusion at first. It's a beautifully crafted,
loving account of Leilah's relationship with the Angel of Death. The cause of my confusion and the web conflict that followed, was
due only to the fact that Leilah had chosen the name Azrael for her Angel and we're both very firey souls who are passionate about our work.
After some time, I discovered that this was not the name of her Angel, but one they
had jointly settled upon because, as she had said, he had no name.
After concluding a five year study of the records that were involved, there is no way I can find any blame with Leilah Wendell for
choosing the name Azrael. It was indeed associated with the Angel of Death, even if the authenticity of those records is
currently a matter of scholarly dispute.
Song of Azrael will continue to dispute Kaab al Ahbar's records (these are the ones that named Azrael as the Angel of Death),
but we will no longer hold the modern writers, artists and poets accountable for an evil deed that happened over 14
centuries ago!
Our Name Is Melancholy is a beautiful work in its own right.
